MariMatic is building the MetroTaifun Solid Waste Collection System to Tripla in Helsinki, Finland. Tripla is a gigantic construction project – a total of three blocks of the whole, where offices, shopping centre, apartments, hotels, cultural premises, public transport terminal and car parking facilities are being built.

Environmental friendliness and energy efficiency have been the starting points for designing the new urban centre Tripla. The waste traffic will be handled automatically by the solid waste collection system. The system increases the sorting of waste and reduces the need for waste rooms and waste bins. Also, hygiene and odor problems are reduced when the waste is conveyed with strong vacuum air flow through a closed pipe centrally to the waste transfer station.

MariMatic is responsible for designing and construction of the solid waste collection system, and also for the service and maintenance after commissioning. The system will be built to serve also the living area Ratapihakorttelit and tower areas Tornialueet, which will be built next to Tripla. In 2040, Central Pasila will have 5,000 inhabitants and 13,000 jobs.

The Central Pasila project started in 2011 and the system will be built according to the regional development schedule of the area. The first phase of the AWCS will be taken into use in 2019.
